INSPIRATION STORY OF DESIGN

After listening the Virgil's Harvard Lecture and finishing my Master's in Urban Design, I started to become fascinated by the intention behind the design in everything from a park bench to the geometric lines of buildings. However, I never knew how purposeful design can intentionally devastate communities. Without intention in approach, design can have perverse outcomes so when I learned what it meant to create a design language, my thoughts naturally gravitated towards the self-identified collage rule of familiarity and nostalgia in relation to the 3% percent rule. Initially starting off as a collage artist, it started to make sense to me seeing the world more as a canvas to collage ideas, concepts, and physical parts together to create something new. Therefore, the outcome of natural flower silhouettes came together to remind me of the plants my family always been connected to from gardening in the motherland.
